Enfield Karate Club News

Saturday training

Following recent Government Covid guidelines, we are suspending Saturday sessions for the foreseeable future.
We will monitor any new advice given by the Government and look at reopening the Saturday Dojo when safe to do so.

Thank you to all our students who have supported the club this year, we know its frustrating not being able to practice karate to the full, hopefully, in time we will get back to some normality with our karate training.

Keep safe
Kyoshi Paul Shephard 7th Dan

Kyu Grading dates for 2020

12th December 2020

Gradings start 2pm promptly.

Please arrived 20 minutes early so you can warm up.

If you have any questions about your grading please ask one of the Sensei's

Those who wish to grade can do so providing they have completed the minimum number of sessions and know their syllabus.

All students wishing to take a grading must make sure they attend regular sessions and put as much spirit and effort into their training as possible.
If you are wanting to grade then we insist that you train consecutively leading up to the grading date. Once a week minimum to get you ready for your grading. Those student who attend less frequent will need to discuss with Sensei Richard if they are able to grade and he will assess your training during the session.
Enfield Karate Club instructors endeavour to train our students to the best of their ability and ensure there karate meets the highest standards to other clubs in the area.

Senior Dan Grading 2019

Well done to all the senior Dan grades who successfully passed their Dan grading 5th October 2019
Shihan Gary Battrick (Chief Instructor Norfolk) - 7th Dan
Sensei Jack Shephard - 4th Dan
Sensei Richard Forster - 4th Dan
Richard Brown - 2nd Dan
Jeff Mortimer - 2nd Dan

Dan Grading 2020

Well done to Rocco Borghese who successfully passed Shodan 29th August 2020
Rocco has trained hard over the lockdown period and put a lot of time and effort into achieving Shodan.

Next Dan Grading 12th December 2020

After discussions with sensei Rich, we have decided to hold a dan grading on 12th December.
With the situation unlikely to change for some time regarding contact training, we felt it would be unfair to make you wait another year at least to take the grading you have all worked so hard for.
The grading will concentrate mainly on basic techniques, combinations and kata. These parts of the grading will be increased to make up for the lack of contact kumite. Kumite will be of the socially distanced type (I will explain when I see you).
It goes without saying that you will need to train very hard especially as we will only have one session a week for the foreseeable future.
All dan grades should do the extra half hour for advanced training on Saturdays.
Please make sure you all know your syllabus if you wish to grade.
Enfield Karate Club expects the highest quality for all our Dan grade students

If you have any questions about your grading please ask one of the Sensei's
